In 1920, the San Remo Peace Conference delegated to Great Britain the authority to administer the Land of Israel and Transjordan, collectively known as the Palestine Mandate. In 1921, the British opted to decrease the size of the Jewish national home and to take Transjordan away from it. In 1922, Churchill published a White Paper on this subject. Later that year, the League of Nations approved the changed mandate, which took effect in 1923.
